New Museum Director

Concepción Canoura, former teacher of the Lace Work Shop and lace book writer, was appointed as new Museum Director.

She will be in charge for the next months to develop the activities of the Museum.

According with Concha (short name for Concepción) she will try to make a wide use of the just made Didactical Unit, for bringing closer the school children to the lace world.She has also many new projects.

New opening at the Museo do Encaixe
(Lace Museum of Camariñas)

As every year the Museo do Encaixe of Camariñas, had opened a new show in Eastern.

The name of the show was, " A new thread for the bobbin lace". The name came from the BLEN project where de Museo do Encaixe is one of the partners.

The main idea of the exhibition was to show and explain the Bobbin Lace European Network.

Four times a day an audiovisual presentation was made by Museum´s Director Concepción Canoura explaining with details how the project works and what you can find in the 4 websites.

In order to make an easier presentation to the public, the main room of the Museum was visually divided in 3 areas.

On left side 3 multicolor panels were developed. In those panels was explained the contents of each website.

On the right side, samples of the Didactic Unit games, were on display.

In the center of the room an screen was placed for the audiovisual presentation.

One of sessions was dedicated to present the website (www.mecam.net) and the BLEN project to the foreign delegations that attended the Mostra.

A CD-ROM with the 4 websites was given to the people.

A new facade for the Lace Museum

One of ideas of the Museum was to have an "eye catching" to call the attention to the thousands of people that visit Camariñas every Eastern time.

0 panels of 1x 1 meter has been attach to the Museum facade.

The panels were representing the different activities carried out in the BLEN project, such as cultural heritage recuperation and the creation of a virtual lace database, just to mention 2. If you want to know more about BLEN, visit www.blen.net.

They got a very good result because the Museum was very busy with visits during the whole day.

The show will be open for the next 6 months.

 


 

 

IX Mostra, the Lace Show

The IX Mostra was held in Camariñas in Eastern time.
The show was a big success and according with the organization thousands of people attend it.

The program was published in the Internet, in www.mecam.net, Museum´s website.

Many delegations from abroad were present at the Mostra.

Eva Vidal, Museologists and former Lace Museum Director was having serious talk for future cooperation in the development of BLEN with some of the delegations.

Emilio Gonzalez, BLEN local coordinator from the Council of Camariñas and Concha Canoura, Museum´s Director, were appointed as web administrators of mecam.net.

Mecam.net was developed under the BLEN project and it has tremendous potential for growing in the future by adding new chapters.

The Lace Book of Camariñas Vol. I

The Camariñas Lace Book Vol. I was presented last week at the Museo do Encaixe de Camariñas.

The book inlcudes a collection of almost 700 lace models.

The book also has 3 chapters:

  • Technical characteristics of the Camariñas Bobbin Lace
  • Training on Line
  • Glossary of terms
